A New Zealand luxury photography studio, using film & digital photography mediums

story
of my loves

One day they won't be little and my eyes will spill over with a million emotions when glancing upon moments. Personalities still with time. Memories, relived that are stored forever in my heart, Stopping time, my magic.

Lily&Rose is devoted to my two daughter’s Lilly Rose & Lilias Adeline.

Inspired Notes

I am a naturalist. A love for nature, natural light and living things attracted me to documenting my passion, especially raw human emotion, through the medium of Photography.

Capturing inspired moments- beauty the eye perceives in all of our happinesses; celebrations, love, and perceptions of a time - to turn them into something tangible for future generations. The resulting, re-stimulating of emotion is my privilege.

Ultimately, I want to create the image to its truest form. I handcraft each image to their best potential in a timeless, emotive, fine art style. I work with film Imagery for the unreplicable true colour and skin tones.

Film video highlights are included in collections so your most adored moments can be relieved to their best potential.

I use natural landscapes of New Zealand to add depth, colour and emotion to my images ensuring isolation, old-worldliness complexity and feeling in portraiture.

Since 2007 I have refined skills in Photoshop and adobe suite applications for perfecting retouching. I received the Gawn Cup in 2008, 1st in Visual Art-Design, and studied Design papers at Otago University achieving highly in these.

I work in devotion to my secondary school art and design teacher, Hunia Dean, a creative genius who first inspired my passion and is now in heaven.

What’s Our Style?

Natural, Emotive, Timeless

Working in Nature is where we feel at home. We use scenic NZ backdrops to pose you contrasting against it in organic whites. Natural laws of ‘duality’ is a theme we love to work with.

Beyond this emotion, and natural movement shape our imagery creating timeless artwork over generations. Natural light is most important; and we work with it to recreate a film-like photography feel with isolated subjects.

Effortless yet beautiful posing is how we achieve the best results. You will be tenderly guided into your natural positions for an unposed, candid result. We will keep our eye on you to see how you naturally move and interact to capture the most authentically ‘you’ moments.

In post production we hand craft every image individually rather than a common technique of 'bulk editing'. So you know each image is presented in the finest and truest quality. With every x 50 images edited, two painstakingly detailed hours will have gone into it.

We offer collection instalment plans and Afterpay.

What do I wear?

Something comfortable and that feels most like you. I ask every client to wear clothing that is logo/brand free, so not to draw attention away from you.

Free flowing and organic fabrics are fantastic. Those that don't cling to you and are long are ideal for women. Neutral colours such as beige, brown, earthy green, sea blue or white, and pastels work well.

We will have consultations over phone/email about this and if you cant’t find anything suitable we have items available in smaller sizes for babies, children and women.

For more inspiration on what to wear please visit our Pinterest inspiration board: Pinterest Client Inspiration - What to Wear

It depends what you have booked. Portrait Collections including: Engagement, Boudoir and Family, Branding and Pre-Weddings take from 1.5hrs to 2.5hours. Newborns take longer with the added time being for feeds and comforting baby up to 3.5hours

Wedding Collection time is stated in the collection you choose.

What do I need to bring with me?

Yourselves, your personalities and joy and of course a smile. If you have a furry family member you can't leave at home, he or she is more than welcome! I am a Veterinary Nurse and adore working with animals. If you have special items you would like to include in your shoot please let me know and feel free to bring these along. Maternity and newborn shoots commonly have alternative items such as Scan photos, and special blankets etc.

How long does it take to receive my images?

All Portraiture (Family, Engagement, Boudoir, Maternity and Newborn) images will take approximately 2-3 weeks.

Wedding galleries will be delivered approximately 60 days from the date of your wedding.

A Sneak peek of our favourite images will be delivered 3-7 business days after your session.

Why do you still use film photography?

Nothing beats the colours, whites and highlights of film photography- Skin tones are glorious, without the high tech imperfections are non existent. Images have more flow and movement in them - They are more timeless.

If I could, I would photograph only with Film- and my challenge is ensuring my digitals look more like film. For now Film is included in most of our Collections.

I am forced to slow down and be more intentional while witnessing your moments and capture only the most perfect moments with it.

Do you travel?

Yes! I am happy to do destination shoots anywhere in the world. Talk with me about putting together a bespoke package to meet your requirements.

What time of day do you hold sessions?

I work with the best natural light to give you the best results. This is called the Photographers 'Golden Hour' and is the first hour after sunrise or two hours before sunset. We will find a time that works best for you if these times don’t suit the little ones.

Click Here to view Golden Hour Timing for our seasons in Queenstown/Cromwell/Wanaka

We are on location weekdays and weekends during the golden hours.

What Camera's do you use?

I use a range of Canon's top of the line Digital Cameras with prime & Zoom lenses, and Medium Format Film Camera’s.

What are your office hours?

Tuesdays & Thursdays 10am - 2pm NZT

Do you include a second Photographer?

No, you can add one on to your Collection for an additional sum of $500

Do you offer Hair & Makeup?

I offer make up touch up’s - for this you will need to bring your own foundation. I use the Dyson Airwrap to curl women’s hair before sessions. This is included in the price of all of our sessions.

I am not a makeup artist nor Hairdresser so have local recommendations for these, for you to use. I also suggest you get your nails/spray tan done for your session(s) also.
